Advising Appointments are scheduled in BC Navigate, which is accessible through myBC.

  • Your academic advisor is assigned based on your major, the benchmark achieved in your major, and the primary campus selected on your admissions application.
  • Contact information for your assigned Academic Advisor is available in BC Navigate under the Resources tab.
  • Phone and Skype appointments with advisors are available upon request.

Once you are admitted and have completed placement testing requirements, please attend a New Student Orientation (NSO) session (in-person or online). You will be advised for your first term at the end of the NSO session. Read more information about getting ready for your first term at BC!

Contact the Orientation Hotline 954-201-7350 to reserve your seat in a NSO session.

To receive advice on what classes to take during your first term, please visit your local Advising Center. You are encouraged to bring copies of all your prior college transcripts (unofficial copies are OK) to this meeting). An advisor will review your prior coursework and develop a suggested academic plan. Read more information about getting ready for your first term at BC!

Please visit our Transfer Equivalency Service (TES) site to see whether courses you have taken at another institution are transferrable to Broward College.

Transfer students are welcome to attend a New Student Orientation (NSO) session (online or in person) if they wish to learn more about important BC resources and services before starting their first term (see above).

Broward college proudly offers information and services pertaining to students transferring to us from other institutions as well as Broward College students transferring to other colleges and universities.

Incoming Transfer Students

Students transferring to Broward College from other institutions should make an appointment to meet with an advisor upon completing the admissions process.

Advisors can help incoming transfer students with the following:

  • Unofficial transcript evaluations
  • Academic planning
  • Advice on course selection

Transient Students

Students who are enrolled in one state college or university, but take a course at another state college or university are called transient students. If you intend to take courses as a transient student, you can complete the transient application process by visiting the Florida Shines website.

Transfer Services

Are you nearing the end of your educational journey at Broward College and looking to transfer to a university? Transfer services are available at the advising office on all campuses. These services include:

  • Catalogs for community colleges, state universities, some private colleges
  • Online transfer information
  • Information on college and university visitations and recruitment
  • 2+2 Transfer Information: Transfer information is also available at the Florida Shines website.

Those wishing to make an advising appointment can do so by following a few easy steps:

  1. Log in to BC Navigate, then skip to step 4 below. PDF version of these steps.
  2. Log in to myBC
  3. At the top of the screen, click on the Advising tab and then the Advising Appointment link. This will take you into BC Navigate [You can also click on the BC Navigate icon under Quick Links].

TIP: The Navigate-College Simplified app is now available for iOS and Android devices and can be used to schedule and manage advising appointments.

  1. Click on Appointments to schedule a new advising appointment. Follow the prompts. Click "Next" until complete, then click "Confirm" to confirm the appointment.

How to Cancel an Appointment

  1. Log in to BC Navigate (Follow the steps above)
  2. Click on the scheduled appointment, then click "View Details"
  3. Click "Cancel Appointment". Select a reason and then confirm the cancellation.
